Massachusetts. Over 100 teachers, representing 35 schools, attended the Summer
Institutes this year.

Faculty were provided with a selection 16 different professional
development courses to attend at no cost. Courses offered this summer
included: AP Computer Science A, Cisco CCNA Discovery and Packet
Tracer, Flash and Flash CS Level 1 Workshop, Graphic Design,
Implementing Podcasting, Introductory Java with iJava, Introducing
Moodle, Microsoft Vista and Office 2007, Object-Oriented Programming,
Second Life, Teaching ICT Technology: A New Paradigm and Why Isn't
Johnny Ready for College.

When surveyed about the effectiveness of their course, one teacher
replied, "I will incorporate some (of what I've learned) into my
program and try to convince the other tech teachers to adopt it."
Another teacher stated that they had learned to, "do more hands on
teaching before I send my students off on their own." Others added
that they would incorporate their session leader's teaching style in
their classroom and that what they had learned in their session would
help them enhance their institution's programs.
